Yoga can be immensely beneficial for children and adults living with conditions such as autism spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, sensory processing challenges, Down’s syndrome, and other disorders or physical disabilities which impact muscle tone, body awareness, overall coordination, balance and strength.

Yoga can:

  1.   improve body awareness and overall muscular strength and flexibility
  2.   strengthen motor planning, sequencing and coordination through simple (progressing to more complex) movement patterns, and activities which emphasize crossing mid-line and challenging balance
  3.   foster greater postural control through core strengthening and stabilization
  4.   build self-confidence
  5.   improve concentration
  6.   replace ineffective breathing patterns with more effective ones
  7.   help individuals experience the calming and healing effects of training in stillness
